KCYAEC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Located on parkland provided by Kendall County through a lease, the facility was funded through donations from businesses and private individuals, as well as grants from Kendall County, Texas Parks & Wildlife and the Lower Colorado River Authority. The Center is managed and operated by a board of directors and operates with a large volunteer base from its two founding organizations: the Kendall County Jr. Livestock Association and the Kendall County 4-H Horse Club.
The Kendall County Youth Agriculture & Equestrian Center is home to more than 400 4-H, FFA, and Jr. Livestock members who participate in agriculture and equestrian activities, competitions, and educational enterprises. The facility is available at no cost to these youth throughout the year. It is operated and maintained by volunteers, so nearly 100% of fundraising proceeds are put back into scholarships, operations, and capital improvements.
Our youth are key to the future of our country. Positive youth development programs can prevent a variety of risk behaviors among young people and improve social and emotional outcomes. We are helping to cultivate the next
generation of leaders who will create a healthier society.
The Center’s signature event, the Kendall County Jr. Livestock Auction, has raised millions of dollars to support higher education for our county youth.
Dating from 1939, the livestock program in Kendall County has a rich heritage, with many generations of the county’s youth learning to be productive, responsible leaders. For seven decades, hundreds of citizens have served as directors and volunteers for the Association, while thousands of community members and business owners have supported the sale financially by purchasing animals and cheering on the young participants.
Agriculture offers young people diverse opportunities to learn and develop their skills. It paves the way for higher education, successful careers, successful families, and ultimately positive influences and contributors to our society.
Kendall County 4-H is a positive youth development organization that empowers young people to reach their full potential. Clubs and projects include horse, livestock, dogs, shooting sports, food & nutrition, fashion & sewing, and robotics, just to name a few. FMI, call the AgriLife Extension Service at (830) 249-9343.
The Youth Ag & Equestrian Center is positioned to capitalize on a growing trend of consumers seeking something distinct from a community center, dance hall, or conference meeting space. As groups seek more inspirational venues, the YAEC continues to attract rental clientele from new markets. Situated atop a bluff adjacent to Joshua Springs Park, the Center is a weatherproof venue offering an open-air feel and beautiful Hill Country views, making it perfect for fundraising galas, corporate events, or private parties.
The Center’s low barn and adjacent showring, along with a commercial kitchen and serving area, are ideal for parties and galas featuring dining, dancing, and silent and live auctions. Additionally, the Center permits clients to utilize their preferred caterers and vendors.
